Mozilla allows Firefox Add-ons Developers To Earn Money As From Today

Mozilla today announced that they will setup a program which will enable add-ons developers to earn money from their products by placing a “contribute” button on their add-ons page.

Mozilla aims to encourage its developers, who devote their time and energy in creating those add-ons.  Payment will be made by PayPal and Mozilla will receive no percentage from the contributed amount.  Mozilla are currently working with PayPal to implement this project.

Contributions are optional and anybody can choose to add or not to add it to their add-ons page.

To add it to your profile if you are a developer, you need will see two new sections for setting up Contributions and your Developer Profile.  You can manage your contributions settings from that page.

Developers can optionally create a PayPal ID for each of their Firefox Add-ons, and then track which add-ons is earning them more money.

If you are an Firefox add-on developer, what do you think of this new project?
